AKA the question here is about a different train... But you have to take the train you mentioned first to get the parts to the desert train. It's only from Polaris that you can access the northern part of the Solaris desert which is where you'll find clues to the desert train parts and eventually find the parts... you need to get the gas mask from the jungle entering from the desert. than head north to central and fix the train there and than just head south afterwards than west (just follow the road) and eventually you get to the other desert where the parts are.
