Jack's ale house bar rescue update
Jack’s Fire Department Bar is a second generation family owned bar in Sunnyside, Queens. As far back as anyone can remember, the corner of Skillman Ave and 40th Street was always home to a bar. In 1985, the McGowan family purchased what was then called The Outpost. Helene and Jack McGowan reopened it in 1986 as the Firewater Inn.The Holding Company has been in San Francisco for about 40 years and was recently bought by four Irish sisters. Their bickering is supposedly causing the bar to go downhill and The Holding Company is supposedly losing $6,000 a month with a total debt of $600,000. During the Bar Rescue makeover, The Holding Company was renamed to the Patriot House.
